Overview

As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The role involves reviewing claims, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering medical opinions based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner supports the Veteran experience by providing high-quality examinations and contributing to access to treatment and continuity of care when needed. These Medical Disability Examinations are crucial in the VA’s process for determining benefits for service-connected health issues. You will provide clinical insights that help facilitate access to subspecialty care when appropriate. Qualified candidates must hold an active license, be able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, adapt to changing situations, and have basic computer skills. This role uses a web-based examination form in a proprietary online system to capture patient information during the examination process. Compensation

Base pay range: $125,382.00/yr - $155,376.00/yr. Pay includes a monthly incentive plan. Job responsibilities emphasize accuracy, compliance, and timely submission of examination findings. Responsibilities

Conduct Comprehensive Medical Disability Examinations: perform thorough and focused medical evaluations of Veterans, including reviewing medical history, conducting physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. 10% travel to include other LSGS Clinics. Review and Analyze Medical Records: assess medical records, diagnostic tests, and other documentation to understand the Veteran’s health condition. Render Objective Medical Opinions: provide unbiased and evidence-based medical opinions regarding the extent of health issues and their impact on work capacity and daily activities. Case Management: understand and work in the case management system, organize workload, submit examination findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team. Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: coordinate with other healthcare professionals and experts to obtain additional medical information as needed. Document Examination Findings: accurately record findings and recommendations in reports that adhere to VA guidelines and contractual obligations. Team Collaboration: work with Loyal Source departments to gain support and meet deadlines for optimal performance. Time Management: manage scheduling and availability for all C&P exams to support Veteran services. Compliance and Quality: adhere to laws, regulations, and standards for disability examinations, ensuring accuracy and fairness. Quality Assurance: collaborate with QA to submit thorough examination findings and maintain VA training requirements. HIPAA and Confidentiality: protect patient information and comply with privacy protocols; annual HIPAA assessment is required. Qualifications

Education and Licensing: Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program with a valid, unrestricted PA license in the United States. Experience: at least 1 year as a Physician Assistant; prior medical disability examination experience is preferred. Licensing and Certification: Basic Life Support certification (renewals required). Military Experience: preferred or familiarity with military/veteran communities. Clinical Skills: proficiency in medical assessments, diagnostic interpretation, and evidence-based opinions. Communication: clear written and verbal communication; ability to present findings to diverse audiences. Ethics and Professionalism: commitment to ethics, objectivity, and fairness in evaluations. Organization and Time Management: strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment. Employment Eligibility: authorized to work in the United States for federal contractor roles. Other Requirements

Reasoning: ability to apply common sense and follow detailed instructions, solving problems with multiple variables. Technological Ability: proficient with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web-based platforms, and electronic medical records; familiarity with Teams and LMS is a plus. Physical Requirements: ability to stand/write at a desk, lift up to 15 pounds, and perform physical examinations with full range of motion. Travel: 10% travel required to support other clinics; additional travel for training or events may be needed. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm; holidays clinics may be closed.
