Overview
CA-DK The Patient Services Representative 3 (MOSC 3) is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. This position performs a variety of duties, providing front office support for the department/clinical team for which it is assigned. Percentages of time allocated to functions in this position description are a guideline only. Individual assignments and time actually worked in each functional area may vary based on the department’s operational needs. This position may also perform front office duties consistent with that of Patient Services Representative 2 (MOSC 2), per operational needs. Responsibilities
50% - Coordination of Medical Office Services 50% - Additional Job Functions Qualifications
High School / GED equivalent or related work experience Experience with practices and protocols related to medical office and/or health care scheduling or insurance procedures (e.g., medical terminology, appointments, medical records, insurance verification, cashiering, billing, etc.) In-depth knowledge of health care insurance systems (e.g., Medi-Cal, MediCare, HMO, PPO, fee-for-service, county funded coverage, worker’s compensation) to obtain and track authorizations, schedule patients, make referrals, coordinate hospital services, complete and submit billing documentation, and explain provisions to patients Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines to identify services performed PC proficiency in computer system applications (e.g., MS Office, cloud-based applications) Knowledge and experience of medical office procedures (terminology, appointments, records, verification, billing) Ability to manage concurrent assignments with organization, prioritization and adherence to deadlines Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of customer service experience and/or call center experience Recent experience with EMR (e.g., EPIC) including In Basket and Work Queues Training or equivalent in billing, authorizations, referrals, medical terminology, and insurance plans Recent experience in outpatient medical office Front office experience for a clinic/physician or health insurance company processing referrals/authorizations; e.g., scheduling, obtaining records, supporting diagnosis or medical necessity Prior experience in the specialty of the hiring outpatient clinic Familiarity with Health System and UCD policies and procedures Facilities, Environment & Benefits
