The incumbent is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. This position performs front office support for the department/clinical team for which it is assigned. 50% - Coordination of Medical Office Services 50% - Additional Job Functions Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position: High School / GED equivalent or related work experience Experience with practices and protocols related to medical office and/or health care scheduling or insurance procedures (medical terminology, appointments, medical records, insurance verification, cashiering, billing, etc.) Ability to accomplish a variety of concurrent assignments, organize, prioritize and complete within a designated time frame; adapt to changing workload Problem solving skills to independently define problems, identify resources, create viable solutions and implement resolution Decision making skills to independently exercise delegated authority and know when to seek assistance Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with co-workers, patients and the public with patience, courtesy and professionalism Ability to take incoming patient calls in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic Proficiency with computer systems for functions including email, spreadsheets, word processing, scheduling, template maintenance, and management of demographic and insurance information; typing skills for timely and accurate input Writing skills with proper English grammar, spelling and punctuation Bookkeeping skills to maintain accurate patient financial records, prepare related reports, balance cash box and deposits Organizing skills to establish priorities and maintain effectiveness in a high-volume environment Filing skills to maintain logs and files; knowledge of medical records laws, confidentiality and HIPAA In-depth knowledge of health care insurance systems (e.g., Medi-Cal, MediCare, HMO, PPO, etc.) to obtain/track authorizations, coordinate referrals, and explain provisions to patients Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines Experience with medical office procedures (terminology, appointments, records, insurance verification, billing, etc.) Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) years of customer service and/or call center experience Recent experience with EMR such as EPIC (In Basket and Work Queues) Billing, authorizations, referrals, medical terminology, and comprehensive insurance plans experience Recent experience in outpatient medical office Experience in front office for a clinic, physician or health insurance company processing referrals or authorizations Experience in the specialty of the hiring outpatient clinic Knowledge of UC Davis policies or ability to learn Understanding of University requisition systems for ordering supplies and medical records Key Responsibilities

This position is located at the Midtown GI/Hepatology Ambulatory Clinic. The Midtown GI Clinic provides services for complex GI and liver diseases. This position processes referrals and authorizations for GI procedures and continuation of care. It is part of the Centralized GI Unit supporting multiple sites. Position Information
