Responsibilities
Performs chair side assistance, utilizing high level skill and dexterity fourhanded sit-down technique, in all phases of restorative, prosthodontics, surgical, endodontic, implant, orthodontic, laser and periodontal treatment as provided in general dentistry.
Greets and escorts patients and assists in scheduling appointments, provides instructions for both verbally and in written form and delivers patient post‑operatory follow‑up. Monitors condition of patient during visit.
Records information, completely and accurately in the patient chart, related to medical history of the patient, charts examination, all intake and exam findings, and treatment information as relayed by the dentist. Takes intra‑oral and extra‑oral radiographs and photos. May act as an interpreter between patient and dentist as needed.
Provide proper instrument set‑ups for assigned dental procedures at the correct time, in proper sequence for any given treatment procedure. Passes instruments and materials to and retrieve them from dentist. Keeps the area of operation clear using high speed evacuation, suction tip, and irrigation retracts tissue, tongue and cheek in surgical procedures, maintains aseptic technique and conditions, and stabilizes tissue for the dentist and cuts sutures.
Maintains and operates dental equipment in a clean and operative condition. Understands and implements the maintenance routine on equipment.
Prepares, sterilizes, organizes, and sets up dental equipment, ensures that all dental instruments are cleaned, dated, and processed according to established clinic guidelines and standards. Properly order, maintain and store adequate levels of supplies.
Pours and trims models from impressions, constructs custom impression trays, completes denture and partial denture, repairs, polish dentures/partial dentures and temporary crowns as instructed by dentist.
Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results.
Preferred Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
High school diploma or GED
Dental Assistant certification required; one (1) year experience as a dental assistant required.
Basic knowledge of oral anatomy, dental charting, basic dental laboratory techniques, including appliance fabrication, and the principles and techniques of dental assisting services
Knowledge and maintenance of dental instruments and materials
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues (both verbally and non‑verbally) while upholding a professional work environment
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
Experience with computers and office machines, including Dentrix, Dexis, CT Technology, Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens
FCP complies with all CDC vaccine and testing recommendations for healthcare professionals. Proof of immunizations is required and immunizations/testing provided upon hire.
