Location: New York, NY (Remote)
Position Status: Contract (12+ months)
Interview Mode:
1-2 rounds, first round will be MS Teams (may still require 2nd round in person)
Position Description:
Join a leading utilities industry client as a Senior GIS Software Engineer providing expert development and technical support for their ArcGIS and ArcFM-based Enterprise GIS systems and applications. This 100% remote contract role offers the opportunity to work with cutting‑edge geospatial technologies, supporting key landbase applications and enterprise GIS infrastructure critical to operational success. Candidates will have the chance to collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams and contribute to system monitoring, performance tuning, and deployment within a complex utilities environment. The role demands flexibility with support hours between 9 AM and 9 PM EST including weekend rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain client’s Landbase GIS applications, providing Tier 1 through Tier 3 technical assistance.
Deploy and administer ArcGIS Enterprise Portal and Server, including ArcGIS Server site management.
Monitor system health and optimize GIS system performance.
Publish GIS services and manage user roles and privileges.
Coordinate with server support, security, DBA, and other operational teams.
Provide clear communication on ticket statuses and support processes to client SMEs.
Required Skills/Education
5 to 10 years of experience administering, supporting, and developing ArcGIS and ArcFM applications.
Hands‑on experience deploying and managing ArcGIS Enterprise and Server sites.
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑resolution capability in enterprise GIS environments.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse technical teams.
Experience with system monitoring and performance tuning of GIS infrastructures.
Flexible availability for support shifts within 9 AM to 9 PM EST, including rotational weekends.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Geography, or related field preferred.
Preferred Skills
Experience in the utility industry with GIS applications a strong plus.
Knowledge of Windows server environments.
Familiarity with Safe Software FME for GIS landbase data processing.
