Zachry Group We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Engineer Process (Water Chemistry) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), sizing and rating various equipment, and performing hydraulic analysis and calculations for piping systems. The key responsibilities of this role include: Developing process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) Sizing and rating various equipment like pumps, horizontal and vertical vessels, heat exchangers, and air coolers Performing hydraulic analysis and calculations for piping systems, including evaluating systems involving single phase, two phase, slurries, water hammer, slug flow, and distribution networks Knowledge of water chemistry application including treatment of raw water, demineralized water, and wastewater, as well as cycle chemistry for condensate systems and cooling systems in Combined Cycle power plants Supervising, coordinating, and reviewing work of a small staff of engineers to accomplish project objectives Mentoring younger engineers, leading by example, and supporting department development initiatives and standards creation/review/update Participating in various client Process Hazard Analysis reviews (i.e. risk review, HAZID, HAZOP/LOPA) Designing relief systems, flare headers, and relief valves, and performing contingency analysis and flare header analysis Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications Presenting technical information to peers (internal or external) for review and comment Analyzing problems and taking appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems Evaluating equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations Estimating resource requirements of new project proposals in support of business development The requirements for this role include: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering 10+ years of experience working as a Process Engineer within the Energy & Chemical Industries or Power Industries Experience applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations Experience in PFD and P&ID development, and participation in HAZOP/LOPA studies Proficient in H&MB development, equipment and instrumentation process specification, and performing hydraulic analysis Good Communication Skills (Active Listening, Verbal, and Written) Ability to adapt to changing client requirements while defining a new path and remaining a positive role model for the team Excellent Attention to Detail – in own work as well as demonstrated in checking work of others Proven history of meeting schedule commitments and planning resources required Judgment and Decision Making Proficient with Process Engineering Software (AspenTech suite preferred) Zachry Group is dedicated to providing a Safe and Drug Free work environment and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
