JOB SUMMARY Working under the direct supervision of Healthcare Technology Management leadership the HTM Field Service Technician II follows designated program outlined for the acceptance, maintenance, safety, performance verification, and efficiency of biomedical equipment used for patient care with supervision and guidance from experienced team members. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the maintenance of medical devices, referencing industry and institutional policies, procedures, and standards within our UH Hospitals and Clinics. Works under supervision of designated team lead and/or Supervisor.

Experience and Education

Required Education: Associate\'s Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Clinical or Electrical Engineering, or similar field, OR Applicable Military Training and experience Experience: 3 years of Healthcare Environment experience; An equivalent combination of education and/or directly related experience may be substituted in lieu of stated requirements Licenses and Certifications: DRIVERS LICENSE Upon Hire

Job Duties

The HTM Field Service Technician II performs job duties at various hospital based and ambulatory clinic sites, traveling between locations to respond to service requests and perform maintenance tasks. Installs, repairs, and maintains all clinical biomedical equipment and instrumentation used for the diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, or care of patients. Follows designated program outlined for the acceptance, maintenance, safety, performance verification, and efficiency of biomedical equipment used for patient care. Analyzes electronic equipment for cause of failure, isolates, tests, and replaces defective parts. Utilizes computer and networking knowledge and applies that knowledge in interfacing medical systems when necessary. Designs and constructs cables, adapters, and other interfacing equipment while ensuring operational safety and compliance. Uses a broad spectrum of hand tools and electronic, and computerized test equipment. Maintains required records and reports relative to regulatory compliance of biomedical equipment. Makes sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy measurements. Makes necessary operational adjustments to electronic equipment. Is perceived as the subject matter expert medical device error diagnosis, maintenance, and repair. Subject matter expert in performing maintenance and diagnosing multiple different issues across multiple different clinical equipment asset classes. Prioritizes service calls and unscheduled maintenance or repairs while ensuring responses are within acceptable guidelines and time limits as required by the user department/unit. Assists with the design and construction of cables, adapters, and other interfacing equipment. Assumes share of call responsibilities. Will assist and participate when contacted by on-call technicians to gain experience on assuming on-call duties. Will assume call within one and half years of employment. Maintains professional growth and technical expertise and knowledge through seminars, conferences, and other educational forums.
