Compliance Specialist (Affordable Housing)
Overview
RHM Real Estate Group is seeking an experienced
Compliance Specialist
to help ensure regulatory compliance across our affordable housing property portfolio. The Compliance Specialist supports the RHM’s Affordable Division by working with the corporate and onsite teams to ensure 100% compliance with all Fair Housing regulations. This role plays a critical part in supporting onsite teams and maintaining program integrity through detailed file audits, income certifications, regulatory reporting, and EIV monitoring.
Responsibilities
Review resident files for accuracy and full compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations
Support site teams with interim and annual recertifications, ensuring timelines and documentation standards are met
Identify any discrepancies and work with site staff to resolve issues in a timely manner
Oversee Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) compliance, including repayment plans, file audits, and reporting discrepancy oversight
Serve as a compliance resource and liaison across assigned properties
Act as a backup Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) at the site level when needed, ensuring continued compliance with occupancy-related requirements at affordable housing properties
Manage and support compliance-related projects and reporting, ensuring clear timelines, coordination with relevant stakeholders, and successful project completion
Collaborate closely with the Compliance Director and cross-functional teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred; High School Diploma or GED required
Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) required
5+ years’ experience in Affordable Housing, with 2+ years onsite or in a supervisory role preferred
Strong working knowledge of compliance regulations and processes (LIHTC, HUD, etc.)
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Yardi (Voyager) software
Compensation & Benefits
$60,000 minimum salary (exact salary based on prior experience and qualifications)
