Lead Mobile Diesel Technician We are hiring a Lead Mobile Diesel Technician to perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and advanced repairs, diagnostics, and customer communications. The Lead will mentor technicians, make decisions on job performance, and sometimes perform Mobile Technician Manager duties.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on mobile fleet vehicles.
Adjust and repair truck equipment, including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, and more.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair diverse truck systems using hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift jacks, and test instruments.
Road‑test vehicles to verify correct operation.
Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and apply sound judgment.
Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
Provide customer service, listen to client needs, and resolve issues.
Prioritize concurrent tasks, make effective judgments, and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
Document work per company standards and upload pictures, parts, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) via the TRAIT application.
Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
Work independently, manage daily schedule, and communicate with management for approvals.
Comply with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Mentor Mobile Diesel Technicians I/II/Sr and assist the Mobile Tech Manager with quality control inspections.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED and 7 years’ experience in a related field (may be satisfied by a higher degree, 5 years’ experience, or 9 years’ experience).
Must possess hand tools necessary for job duties.
Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
Obtain ASE certification C1 (Service Consultant) within 18 months.
Obtain 608/609 certification within 18 months.
Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
Valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining, or a DOT physical if less.
Age 21 or older (interstate operating authority).
Valid state driver’s license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.

Compensation Hourly base pay range: $34.71 – $52.02 per hour, varying by location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission or incentive programs.
