Commodity Buyer
in
Whitehall, MI . Our client is a leading global supplier of automotive engine and transmission components, specializing in variable valve timing, transmission modules, and other precision-engineered systems. The
Commodity Buyer
is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the best quality, cost, and delivery performance for assigned commodities. Responsibilities
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities in line with company objectives. Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers. Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and material cost fluctuations. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure supplier compliance with specifications. Maintain supplier relationship management, addressing issues and driving continuous improvement. Prepare and analyze RFQs, cost breakdowns, and total cost of ownership evaluations. Support new product launches and engineering changes by sourcing new materials and suppliers as needed. Job Requirements
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management principles. Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration. Required Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred. Minimum 3–5 years of purchasing or commodity management experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
