Responsibilities
Assist Project Manager or act on behalf of Project Manager in the preparation of work‑plans, Cooperative Agreements, Project Change Requests (PCR) and coordination of all work activities.
Review Project Initiation Reports, Project Reports (PR) and permits.
Act as an expert in Project Resource and Schedule Management (PRSM) and in the use of the Caltrans Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Perform complex technical analytical assignments and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Work independently with high responsibility to ensure on‑time and within‑budget project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications See Class Specification for detailed Minimum Qualifications. Candidates must meet the MQs for Pattern II and must have the proper exam eligibility.
Special Requirements
Appointment to Range D (Resident Engineer) requires a valid PE (Civil) license from the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. PE license not required for other ranges.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and 12‑point Arial font. Include:
Relevant experience related to Project Management or related fields, and examples of effective communication, leadership, organization, and analytical skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and other programs as necessary.
Ability to analyze problems and recommend effective courses of action.
