The Business Operations Manager is responsible for providing administrative, office management, budgetary, and programmatic support for FoodShare South Carolina, a program of the University of South Carolina’s School of Medicine. Under the supervision of the FoodShare Executive Director, manages all aspects of finances, financial reporting, and bookkeeping; oversees accounts payable and accounts receivable; performs a variety of accounting duties while accurately monitoring, reporting, and reconciling federal and state grants; and collaborates closely with USC Development and the Foundations Office to oversee donor relations through the maintenance of donor information, donation tracking, and recognition.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, with 3 years of experience in nonprofit finances.
Experience with food security, anti‑poverty, nutrition assistance programs is an asset, especially in rural settings.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a leader/supervisor and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Experience with USC (or other university or state agency) accounting/bookkeeping software/programs is a strong asset.
Job Duties
In consultation with the Executive Director and in accordance with USC standards and procedures, create and manage the organizational budget; oversee accounts payable, purchasing, sales tax, and supervise accounts receivable, daily sales, and donor tracking.
Manage and monitor individual grant budgets, contribute to grant proposals, and provide reports on sponsor schedules and formats.
Contribute to the department leadership committee; supervise the Business Assistant; and assist with Fresh Food Box packing and distribution as required.
In consultation with the Executive Director, create and monitor organizational policies and procedures that guide the day‑to‑day functions of FoodShare SC, ensuring compliance with USC policies, procedures, and software. This is achieved by familiarizing with these policies, establishing relationships with USC staff, and attending relevant learning sessions.
FoodShare SC is a program of the University of South Carolina’s School of Medicine, though we are not on campus and are community‑facing and self‑funded via grants. All staff work at the FoodShare SC office at 201 Columbia Mall Blvd, suite 109, in the Dentsville Community. FoodShare SC complies with USC’s HR policies, which include generous annual leave, sick leave, retirement contributions, and health benefits.

Pay Range $59,581 – $89,371, with an anticipated starting salary around $65,000 plus full benefits package
