Construction Project Accountant
JTM Construction, a leading Seattle-based general contractor located in Seattle, Washington, seeks an on-site Project Accountant. The Project Accountant is the primary accounting and billing support for construction projects from start-up to final closeout and serves as the liaison between the job site and the finance department, ensuring all accounting standard operating procedures are followed at the job site. The Project Accountant performs activities related to contracts, bonds, insurance, payables, liens, billings, payroll/cost/budget reports for the job site management team. This position will assist and support the project team by maintaining accurate and complete accounting records and is a team player with strong customer service and accounting skills. The Project Accountant is a full time, exempt position working out of our main office in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle and works under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Manager and Director of Project Controls.
The full salary range for this position is $80,000 – $120,000, depending on direct professional experience and qualifications. The bonus target for this role is 3%-10% of annual base earnings.
Responsibilities
Cost accounting
Subcontractor management
Project administration
Prepare and submit applications for payment with required documentation for assigned projects
Review and process subcontractor applications of payment and general condition invoices for payment
Perform data entry of owner billings, subcontracts, change orders, purchase orders, and journal entries
Assist in maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners
Review time entry for accuracy
Requirements
Associates in accounting or related field (or equivalent experience). B.A. in accounting preferred
Three (3) years of experience as a project accountant or similar position. Construction accounting experience or AEC industry experience highly desired
GL accounting experience
Proficiency in basic accounting principles
Proficient computer knowledge and company communication tools; such as email, the internet, and Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with Viewpoint (Vista), Autodesk, Bluebeam, Docusign, Agave
High attention to detail
Great time management skills; ability to prioritize a variety of tasks
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
Team player with a can-do attitude
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to assist with multiple projects

Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, and computer printer.
Productive in an office environment that is subject to frequent interruptions including moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
Must be able to wear personal protective gear.
Light to moderate lifting may be required.
Occasionally move about inside the office.
