Department of Environmental Services
(ENV),
Refuse Collection and Disposal Division , is hiring a
Safety Specialist I . Located in Kapolei, this position assists the Administrative Specialist III in managing the division's safety program, which includes preparing / conducting training, preparing statistics / reports, inspecting operations / facilities, enforcing safety practices and requirements, and investigating injuries / accidents. Adhering to applicable safety practices, rules, and procedures, you will perform all duties safely and appropriately to ensure the safety of self, co‑workers, and the general public.
Special Work Requirements Possible field exposure to underground high voltage cables, vehicular traffic, handling of refuse, confined spaces. May be subject to report to emergencies outside of the normal work hours. Will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during declared civil defense emergencies.
Additional Vacancy There is one (1) additional vacancy with the
Department of Parks and Recreation
(DPR), Administration Division.

Qualifications
Citizenship: Citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or non‑citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field from a regionally-accredited four‑year college or university.
Foreign credential evaluation (FCE) required if education obtained outside the United States.
Submit evidence of education: electronic copy of diploma and/or official transcript with embossed seal or FCE.
Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year‑for‑year basis.
One year of professional (post‑bachelor’s degree, non‑clerical) experience in industrial safety and accident prevention activities.
Possession of a valid appropriate driver’s license (automobile/Type 3) prior to appointment.
