Position Summary The Walmart Facility Services team is composed of over 5,000 associates working to develop and execute a world‑class, data‑driven asset management and project execution organization. Our mission is to optimize uptime and total cost of ownership for Walmart’s assets across 5,000+ stores, clubs, distribution centers, and fulfillment centers. Director, Business Strategy – HVAC and Refrigeration Project Management This high‑impact leadership role is responsible for leading a team that oversees project management for HVAC and refrigeration initiatives across Walmart Facilities. The Director will drive capital project management, asset lifecycle planning, and infrastructure upgrades, directly influencing the reliability and sustainability of one of the world’s largest refrigeration and HVAC fleets. The Director guides a dedicated team and works cross‑functionally to ensure operational excellence and cost efficiency for Walmart’s facilities nationwide.

Responsibilities

Lead, develop, and inspire a high‑performing team responsible for the end‑to‑end project management of HVAC and refrigeration initiatives across Walmart’s facilities.

Guide the team in planning and executing large‑scale capital and operational projects, ensuring operational excellence, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Set the organizational vision and strategic execution plan for HVAC and refrigeration project management, perform industry and market analysis, define success metrics, and communicate progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Oversee change initiatives by identifying priorities, managing project plans, and ensuring seamless adoption of new processes across the organization.

Drive process improvement by evaluating, prioritizing, and executing projects; consult with leadership; benchmark competitors; and remove barriers to team performance.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with Realty, Construction, Sustainability, Energy, Procurement, and Parts teams to align project management strategies with business goals and operational needs.

Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth through mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning.

What You’ll Bring

10+ years of experience leading national, multi‑facility HVAC and refrigeration project management or maintenance programs.

Proven ability to develop, mentor, and inspire high‑performing teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Demonstrated expertise in executing large‑scale capital and operational projects, with a track record of delivering operational excellence, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Strong analytical and data‑driven approach to decision making, using insights to inform asset investment, process improvement, and project prioritization.

Experience setting organizational vision and strategic direction, conducting industry analysis, defining success metrics, and communicating effectively with senior leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.

Exceptional project management skills, including managing complex, multi‑site initiatives and large vendor/contractor networks.

Deep understanding of supplier management, contract negotiation, and equipment standardization to ensure optimized performance and longevity.

Skilled collaborator with the ability to align project management strategies with business goals across Realty, Construction, Sustainability, Energy, Procurement, and other key teams.

Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 – $220,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and may also include stock options.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or a related field and 6 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or a related area.

Alternatively, 8 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or a related area.

2 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Leading a cross‑functional team with a Master’s in Computer Engineering.

Leading a cross‑functional team with a Master’s in Computer Science.

Leading a cross‑functional team with a Master’s in Mathematics.

Leading a cross‑functional team with a Master’s in Supply Chain.

Leading a cross‑functional team with a Master’s in Transportation.
