Overview Put your accounting skills to work supporting essential public programs across Texas. In this short‑term role, you’ll help ensure that vendor payments, purchase orders, and invoices are processed accurately and on time, directly contributing to the efficient operation of a state agency that manages vital community and environmental initiatives.

The Team You Will Be Joining This state agency works to conserve and protect Texas’s natural and cultural resources—managing parks, wildlife, fisheries, and outdoor recreation programs for the benefit of current and future generations. You’ll join a collaborative finance team that supports this mission by overseeing purchasing, payments, and budget tracking across multiple divisions, ensuring public funds are used responsibly and in compliance with state policies.

Major Duties

Review invoices to determine correct and authorized charges.

Match purchase orders to invoices and prepare them for payment.

Process and print invoices accurately and efficiently.

Maintain financial records and documentation.

Assist with payment inquiries as needed.

What We’re Looking For

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business.

Equivalent experience is welcomed: every 30 semester hours of education may be substituted with one year of hands‑on experience in accounts payable, accounting, financial operations, advanced clerical, or bookkeeping work.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Previous experience with Texas state government financial systems or processes (desirable).

Exciting Opportunity Details

Compensation Rate: $20.50/hour.

Length of Engagement: Approximately 3 months.

Days/Hours: Monday–Friday, standard business hours.

Location: South Austin, TX (78744).

Onsite position (no telework option).

Fragrance‑free workplace.

Schedule: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with a 1‑hour lunch, or 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. with a 30‑minute lunch.
