Area Supervisor – Ross Stores, Inc. General Purpose

– The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area the Store and for general operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly shopping environment and execute company operational processes.

Essential Functions

Maintain safe & secure environments – practice safe behaviors, create a safe shopping environment, correct unsafe conditions, secure building entrance & EAS, remove clutter & test fire alarms.

Customer Service – treat all customers & associates with respect, demonstrate courtesy & professionalism, recognize associates.

Personal & Store Brand – represent company brand, maintain professional appearance, keep store clean & merchandised, daily trash removal.

General Merchandising – ensure recovery, sizing & markdowns, receive merchandise, process urgently, clean stockrooms, place merchandise on sales floor, secure loss prevention, comply with presentation guidelines.

Loss Prevention – maintain loss prevention awareness, safeguard confidentiality, conduct code inspections, execute best practices.

Front End Supervision & Operations – execute best practices, manage front end pace & presence, train associates on cash register, control break schedules, ensure equipment works, expedite go‑backs, teach Scan & Bag, maintain salability.

Fitting Rooms – maintain cleanliness, audit tags, ensure go‑back compliance.

Administrative Duties – conduct cash pulls & bank deposits, manage front end controls, perform payroll administration, other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Special Skills Required

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Fluency in English.

Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.

Basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail.

Availability to work evenings and weekends. \ Physical Requirements / ADA Ability to use all store equipment, stand, walk, move up to 100% of working time, bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop, lift >25 lbs, use janitorial equipment, ladders, rolling racks. Certain assignments may require other qualifications.
