General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific area of the store and overall operations when serving as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising Associates, maintaining a clean, merchandised environment, and ensuring compliance with all company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors and maintaining awareness on the sales floor.

Correct or report unsafe conditions and practices to Store Leadership.

Secure the building: manage entrance/exit control, EAS devices, cash office, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.

Keep egress clear, remove clutter, and ensure safety of customers.

Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms.

Customer Service

Treat all customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.

Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.

Personal and Store Brand

Represent and support the Company brand; maintain a professional appearance per dress code.

Ensure all Associates adhere to the dress code.

Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.

General Merchandising

Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns meet Company standards via training and follow‑up.

Receive merchandise trucks and all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.

Process all merchandise promptly and manage stockroom cleanliness and organization.

Assist in delivering merchandise to the sales floor and ensure back‑stock is secured and processed per policy.

Maintain compliance with monthly presentation guidelines and handle floor moves and promotional signings.

Loss Prevention

Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong customer‑service presence.

Demonstrate integrity, safeguarding confidential information and merchandise.

Maintain the Public View Monitor (PVM) system and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.

Front End Supervision and Operations

Coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control, and front‑end procedures.

Manage break schedules, ensure equipment functions, and maintain supplies and recoveries.

Expedite go‑backs and teach Associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice.

Ensure salability of merchandise in front‑end areas.

Fitting Rooms

Maintain and clean fitting rooms; audit and account for garment tags.

Ensure go‑back compliance: all returned merchandise must be ticketed, scanned, nubbed and security‑tagged.

Administrative Duties (as assigned by Store Manager)

Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits following Company policy.

Handle front‑end refunds, Associate purchases, and register closures.

Administer payroll: punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and reporting.

Perform other duties assigned by Store Manager.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Fluency in English.

Prior customer‑service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.

Basic mathematical calculations for retail environments.

Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Use store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC) as required.

Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.

Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.

Occasionally lift >25 lbs; stockroom shifts may require >20 lbs.

Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
