As the company continues to grow in the

North Carolina market , they are seeking an experienced

Project Director

to oversee major projects and ensure operational and commercial excellence.

Position Overview The

Project Director

will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale mechanical construction projects, ensuring technical excellence, financial performance, and client satisfaction.

This role requires a seasoned leader who can manage complex, fast-paced projects, mentor project teams, and strengthen client relationships in highly regulated and mission-critical industries.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership:

Oversee multiple mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring all technical, financial, and schedule objectives are met.

Client Management:

Serve as the primary executive interface with clients in the

pharma/life sciences

and

data center

sectors—building strong, trust-based relationships.

Financial Oversight:

Manage project budgets, forecasts, and profitability; identify and mitigate risks while maintaining commercial discipline.

Team Development:

Lead, coach, and develop project managers, engineers, and field leadership to deliver consistent quality and performance.

Operational Excellence:

Implement project management best practices, promote safety, and ensure compliance with all company and client standards.

Strategic Growth:

Collaborate with senior leadership to identify new business opportunities, contribute to proposals, and expand the company’s regional presence.

Collaboration:

Coordinate with estimating, fabrication, and field operations teams to ensure seamless project delivery and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in

Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management , or related discipline (P.E. license or advanced degree preferred).

10–15+ years of experience in

mechanical contracting

with expertise in

HVAC, plumbing, and piping

for complex facilities.

Proven track record managing large or multiple concurrent projects ($10M+ in value).

Experience delivering projects in

pharmaceutical/life sciences

and/or

mission-critical data center

environments.

Strong financial acumen with full

P&L responsibility

on major projects.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.

Deep understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory standards in controlled environments.
