Additional Information About The Role BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full-Time Lab Technical Coordinator for Core Lab located at Missouri Baptist Medical (MBMC).

Position Details

Night Shift: 3 - 12 hour shifts per week (6:30pm-7am)

Assigned a primary and secondary department to help coordinate within the Core Lab

Responsibilities include assisting with quality control, scheduling, troubleshooting, CAP checklists, training, and validation/implementation of equipment and processes.

Rotation: will be part of the bench rotation

Full-time (36 hours per week), non-remote

Lab Equipment: Cerner Millennium (LIS), Epic, Instrument Manager, Sysmex WAM, Cellavision, Biorad Unity, Wellsky, Roche, Ortho-Visions

MT/MLS (ASCP) Certified

Experience

At least 2 years of generalist hospital lab experience (preferred)

Experience in participation in departmental projects, committees, or process improvement events

Skills – comfortable with Microsoft, good communication skills, critical thinking/problem solving skills

If you have experience in one of the following areas, you could be a good fit: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) and Medical Technologist (MT), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Physical/Life Sciences or related field

MT/MLS - ASCP or equivalent Certification

2 years of more experience

Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose:

Coordinates the technical activities of the department (inventory management, R&D, technical procedures and Policies, CAP readiness, etc.). Also performs testing and processing of routine and complex testing on blood and other specimens as well as acts as a resource person to staff.

Responsibilities

Assesses workload, prioritizes work, makes staffing adjustments and assists staff when needed.

Coordinates/reviews schedules with supervisors and coordinators to ensure adequate staffing for shift.

Ensures maintenance of laboratory services and quality in accordance with prescribed standards and policies of the system, government and other accreditation agencies.

Takes responsibility for the daily operations, both technically and administratively, for the shift to ensure quality services.

Coordinates with all lab supervisors and frontline staff to ensure laboratory goals are met to improve quality service and reduce costs.

Develops appropriate QA monitors with supervisor and implements processes for shift to ensure quality.

Evaluates data, identifies problems, and recommends solutions.

Teaches and/or trains new and established staff members and Clinical Laboratory Scientist students in routine and specialized techniques used in the laboratory.

Participates in competency assessment of staff.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree – Physical/Life Science/related

Experience: 2-5 years

Supervisor Experience: No Experience

Licenses & Certifications: MT/MLS - ASCP or equivalent

Preferred Requirements

Experience: 5-10 years

Supervisor Experience:

Licenses & Certifications: Cert/Lic in Area of Expertise
