Job Details The primary purpose of this position is to develop and evaluate manufacturing processes and systems which integrate human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow with the focus upon employee safety, quality of the product, cost reduction, as well as improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop expertise on manufacturing technology
Develop expertise on the product parameter and support the Technical Customer Service Team for product development and improvement
Identify Key Process Parameters and impact on the product parameters
Conduct PFMEA
Write process descriptions and work instructions for operations
Define control plans
Train the operation team
Evaluate and improve the process capabilities
Put in place monitoring of the Process and Products parameters, analyze deviations, put in place counter measures and monitor the progress
Improve the processes recipes to reach the expected capabilities
Challenge the technology, and identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts
Carry out continuous quality improvement assessments required by the Automotive Industry (CQI9) and insure compliance
Determine root causes of failures and recommend process changes to improve product quality
Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing
Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities
Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize costs
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Materials, Industrial Engineering/Metallurgical Degree
3+ years of experience in an automotive-related manufacturing environment which operates a 24/7 continuous process preferred
Background in metallurgy, all materials engineering and heat treat operations or a combination of a minimum of 5 years of formal metallurgical education and heat treat experience
Knowledge of materials and metallurgical operations
Heat treat knowledge and metal properties
Knowledge of Quality methods and tools: DMAIC, FMEA, PDCA, 5M diagram
Knowledge in electrical, mechanical and hydraulics
Knowledge in heavy industry, metallurgy type preferred
