Job Summary
The Academic Personnel Specialist, under the general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), provides analytical and administrative support for all actions pertaining to academic personnel matters in the Earth and Planetary Sciences Department, including CalTeach/MAST. This position acts as a resource for academic personnel policy and practice; analyzes reviews, prepares, and processes academic actions; determines eligibility of all academic titles for advancement, and compiles/prepares dossiers. The position provides administrative and analytical support for the recruitment process for academic positions, and serves as a resource, providing advice, interpretation, and guidance regarding academic personnel issues for faculty, non-student researchers, managers, and staff. This position operates with a high degree of confidentiality, organization and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience interpreting and applying personnel policy and procedures in a higher education setting.
Experience utilizing standard business software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, email, calendaring, and electronic accounting and academic personnel systems.
Experience managing projects and multiple tasks including planning and coordinating assignments, adapting to changing priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
Experience providing excellent customer-oriented service and assistance. Experience gathering and analyzing information and compiling reports.
Knowledge of academic personnel and compensation administration. Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing excellent customer-oriented service and assistance.
Knowledge of and experience with campus systems, including MyInfoVault, APHID, Aggie Enterprise, and AggieServicel.
Knowledge of UCD Academic Personnel Manual. Knowledge of Unit 18 contract.
Knowledge of Academic Research Unit contract.
Knowledge of UCD academic personnel policy and procedure for postdoctoral scholars.
