This is an opportunity for an experienced professional with a background in accounting and financial reporting to assume a key role in a best-in-class organization. As a Senior Accountant, you will play an important role in financial statement preparation. This position reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting.
Main Responsibilities
Assist Financial Reporting Team with preparation of the Company’s monthly consolidated financial statements by processing various calculations, preparing journal entries, maintaining schedules, and preparing reconciliations
Maintain fixed asset records including accurate preparation of book and tax depreciation schedules in accordance with Company policy
Maintain office lease records in compliance with ASC 842 and IFRS 16
Translate Canadian financial records to US dollars in accordance with conversion rules
Analyze real estate transaction documents for proper revenue recognition and timely processing in our systems
Prepare and distribute financial reports and analyses to stakeholders on a timely basis
Assist with projects assigned by our parent company and prepare supplemental schedules
Respond to annual audit requests and field questions from the US audit team
Interact with other Finance teams including Operations, Payroll, Tax and Treasury, along with management at our field offices and colleagues at our parent company
Research accounting topics for proper treatment under US GAAP and IFRS
Assist with the implementation of new ERP technologies
Other ad hoc projects as needed including annual budget and quarterly projections
Qualifications
3-5 years of accounting and financial reporting experience in both public accounting firms and corporate environments
Must have strong US GAAP background; experience with IFRS a plus
Intermediate to Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
