Overview
Construction Advisory Senior Associate (Forensics) you will grow and contribute to our global clients’ business needs through all phases of project and engagement management across industries, with a focus on real estate and construction. You will work on large and complex construction projects in data centers, energy, infrastructure, commercial real estate, and hospitality, among others. You will plan, direct, and complete projects related to process improvements, vendor audits, risk and control assessments, investigations, litigation support, and project monitoring within the Forensics Advisory Services Practice, with the resources and support to excel. From day one , you’ll be empowered by the Risk team to help clients move toward their vision and to help you achieve more.
Responsibilities
Review construction contracts, financial statements, job cost reports, internal policies, and process maps to identify cost savings, process inefficiencies, and strategic initiatives Perform complex financial analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies across multiple data sources Analyze compliance with labor requirements, including prevailing wage jobs tied to federal funding or tax credits Assist in matters involving fraud, waste, and abuse, including allegations of bribery, collusion, conflicts of interest, organized crime, and related regulatory exposure Research regulatory requirements (e.g., IRS guidance, accounting standards codification, AICPA practice aids) to support defensible conclusions on complex engagements Communicate findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders Coordinate with stakeholders and third parties to assess construction project controls and propose improvements to address gaps Run client engagements from planning through completion, managing projects to budget Maintain active client communications to manage expectations and build trust Work with engagement teams on forensic accounting procedures across multiple engagements Collaborate across Grant Thornton service lines and with international colleagues to deliver comprehensive solutions Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff; participate in performance assessments Attend professional development, networking events, and training seminars Adhere to professional standards and client confidentiality Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, MIS, or related field Minimum 2 years of related experience in a consulting practice serving real estate and/or construction clients at a national level Certifications: CPA, CFE, CMA, CFA, CCA, CIA, PMP, PMBOK or other related certifications preferred Experience in management consulting, internal audit, regulatory compliance, and/or forensic engagements preferred Proven advisory capabilities in real estate and/or construction industries Strong computer skills, especially Excel Knowledge of federal and state construction labor regulations, including the Davis-Bacon Act Excellent analytical, research, and organizational skills with attention to detail Ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities in a fast-paced, results-based environment Exceptional client service and communication skills Ability to work additional hours and travel to client sites (domestic and international); travel expected 10%–25% Candidates may be asked to complete a skills assessment as part of recruiting
Salary & Location
The base salary ranges for this position vary by location: New York, NY: $95,040 – $142,560 San Francisco, CA: $101,200 – $151,800 Chicago, IL: $88,000 – $132,000
