Overview
Construction Advisory Manager (Forensic) – Real Estate/Construction Advisory role at Grant Thornton (US). The Opportunity: join a Risk team that empowers you to help clients achieve their vision, while advancing your own career in a supportive, high-impact environment. Responsibilities
Review construction contracts, financial statements, job cost reports, internal policies, and process maps to identify cost savings, inefficiencies, and strategic initiatives. Coordinate with stakeholders and third parties to understand the construction project control environment and propose controls to address gaps. Review complex financial analyses to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies across data sources and supporting documentation. Analyze compliance with labor requirements, including prevailing wage rules tied to federal funding or tax incentives. Assist in matters involving fraud, waste, and abuse, including allegations of bribery, collusion, conflicts of interest, and other regulatory exposures. Conduct targeted regulatory research (IRS guidance, accounting standards codification, AICPA practice aids) to support defensible conclusions on complex engagements. Lead client engagements from planning to completion, manage budgets, and coordinate across Grant Thornton service lines and international teams. Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff, and conduct performance reviews and project staffing and scheduling. Communicate findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders; contribute to business development and client management. Participate in recruiting, professional development, and networking; uphold high professional standards and confidentiality. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, MIS, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 5 years of related experience in a consulting practice servicing real estate and/or construction clients at a national level. CPA, CFE, CMA, CFA, CCA, CIA, PMP, PMBOK or other related certifications. Experience in management consulting, internal audit, regulatory compliance, and/or forensic engagements preferred. Proven advisory capabilities in real estate and/or construction industries. Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; ability to work on multiple engagements and priorities. Knowledge of federal and state construction labor regulations, including Davis-Bacon Act. Excellent analytical, research, and organizational skills with attention to detail; strong client service and communication skills. Ability to travel 10%–25% and work additional hours as needed. The base salary ranges for this position vary by location: New York, NY: $129,600–$194,400; San Francisco, CA: $138,000–$207,000; Chicago, IL: $120,000–$180,000. About Us
