The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division
Position Title:
Property Accounting Specialist Location/Dept:
DHQ/Property Pay Grade:
403 Pay Range:
$18,110 - $21,730
Outcomes:
Provide consistent oversight to the Division’s property and insurance office functions, ensuring compliance with policy, procedure, and mandate. Work is completed timely and effectively, meeting industry standards and Division expectations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Administrative
Process paperwork, correspond, and create agendas for Leadership.
Handle filing functions (paper and electronic) for property projects as directed by the Property and Insurance Manager.
Process incoming mail for the Property Department and scan items as directed.
Financial
Process real estate tax payments and reimbursements.
Process payments from contractors, architects, consultants, and other vendors.
Maintain financial tracking and accounting of property projects and vacant properties using spreadsheet or other approved software.
Insurance
Manage insurance functions, monitor claims, and facilitate receipt of claim payments from Chesterfield, including subsequent payments to corps and institutions.
File property projects, leases, insurance, county tax exemptions, and other documents as directed.
Prepare annual reconciliation between county lists of exempt properties and actual holdings.
Maintain property list spreadsheets for various uses.
Miscellaneous
Provide additional administrative support to the Department as requested.
Reporting Relationships:
This position reports to the Property and Insurance Manager and represents The Salvation Army in related contacts.
Performance Measures:
Timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals; evaluation of service effectiveness.
Education / Experience
High school diploma required; business school or college coursework preferred.
Minimum of 3 years managing financial records.
Preferred: 2 years of administrative experience, prior Salvation Army experience.
Proficiency with computer-based work environment and Microsoft Word.
Competencies
Willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
Minimum of 3 years property accounting experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Diplomatic judgment and attention to detail.
Microsoft Office proficiency.
Positive attitude; ability to work with confidential material; flexibility with changing priorities.
Understanding of The Salvation Army mission and policies.
Position Limitations

Keep the Property and Insurance Manager informed on all critical issues.
Adhere to all policies and procedures in conducting responsibilities.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Light physical work required.
Use of standard office equipment and PC.
Office environment with low noise level.
