We are seeking an experienced

Controller

to lead our organization’s accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, and support a mission-driven environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned nonprofit finance professional who brings strong leadership, audit readiness, and the ability to collaborate across global teams.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including GL management, month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance

Lead development, enhancement, and implementation of internal controls, accounting policies, and best practices

Manage and support internal and external audits

Ensure timely preparation of financial statements, grant/contract reporting, and organizational budgets

Partner with executive leadership to support strategic planning, financial modeling, and long-term forecasting

Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including team members located internationally

Lead process improvement initiatives to drive accuracy, efficiency, and transparency

Serve as a key financial advisor to leadership, board members, and program stakeholders

Qualifications

8+ years of experience

as a Controller or Assistant Controller

Proven tenure

in prior roles demonstrating stability and long-term contribution

Experience implementing internal controls

Internal and external audit experience

Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit compliance, and fund accounting

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Proficiency with accounting systems; advanced Excel preferred
