About the Role The Controller will lead all financial operations for a large manufacturing company, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and strategic financial guidance. This role partners closely with operations leadership to drive cost efficiency, profitability, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in manufacturing accounting and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, highlighting variances and actionable insights.
Cost Accounting & Analysis
Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs (materials, labor, overhead).
Implement and maintain standard costing systems and variance analysis.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions and operational initiatives.
Compliance & Controls
Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP and company policies.
Maintain robust internal controls and support SOX compliance (if applicable).
Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors.
Leadership
Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
Foster collaboration with operations, supply chain, and corporate finance teams.
Strategic Projects
Support integration of acquisitions and ERP system enhancements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across financial processes.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
Experience:
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including controllership in manufacturing.
Strong background in cost accounting and financial analysis.
Public accounting experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
ERP systems (SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar).
Advanced Excel and financial reporting tools.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Salary Range:
$140,000 – $175,000 base + bonus potential.
