Medical Scheduler – On-site | Columbia, MD
Location: Columbia, MD 21045
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Placement Type: Contract-to-Hire (4 months)
Pay Range: $15.00 – $18.00/hour
Interview Format: In-person with Practice Manager and Call Center Supervisor
Start Date: November 17, 2025
About The Role We are seeking two Medical Schedulers to join a fast-paced healthcare environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong customer service skills and healthcare experience to contribute to a close-knit team in a newly renovated office.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule and reschedule patient appointments
Handle high-volume inbound calls (60–100 daily)
Assist with patient registration, insurance verification, billing, and collections
Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure HIPAA compliance
Support front desk operations including check-in/check-out
Route patient inquiries to appropriate providers
Provide prescription refill and referral support
Collaborate with office staff and maintain excellent customer service
Required Skills & Experience
Strong communication and customer service skills
Familiarity with medical terminology and scheduling practices
Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume call center environment
Fast typing and computer proficiency
Experience with EMR systems (Epic preferred)
Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is acceptable
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of EMR systems
Understanding of insurance procedures
Prior call center experience in a healthcare setting
Work Environment
Office-based role with regular interaction with patients, staff, and visitors
Requires sitting, standing, stretching, and use of standard office equipment
Headsets or handheld phones provided based on preference
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 – $18.00/hr.
