Reporting Structure Service Manager
Role Overview This position reports to the Service Manager and is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division. The work model for the role is Remote (North Dakota/South Dakota).
Responsibilities
Execute service work according to agreed workflows and ABB standard processes, safety guidelines, and system requirements.
Specialize in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical power systems (UPS, PDU, STS, related systems) for mission‑critical infrastructure.
Perform service tasks, identify technical problems, and conduct analysis through remote or on‑site activities in various service categories.
Build and maintain good relationships with customers, understanding needs and identifying new sales opportunities.
Coordinate, prepare, and ensure that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and meet quality standards.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
Prepare all documents and reports for customer representatives; report work completed in a timely manner and follow up when needed.
Identify potential equipment failures proactively and recommend corrective actions. Troubleshoot failures and prevent future issues.
Suggest product and quality improvements and communicate them within the organization.
Apply safety rules, environmental responsibilities, and report unsafe practices and incidents.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience; or Associate’s degree with 2+ years servicing critical power equipment.
High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years experience considered.
Advanced communication skills (written and verbal).
Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
Moderate ability to self‑project manage using MS Project or Excel.
Advanced ability to write test plans and report detailing test results.
Works well with others and demonstrates a sense of urgency.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
