Qualification Ph.D. in English / English Literature / Linguistics or related field
Experience Minimum 10 years of teaching experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or HOD role (as per UGC norms)
Reporting To Principal / Dean - Arts & Science
Job Summary The Head of the English Department will lead academic, administrative, and research activities, ensuring excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and faculty performance. The HOD will foster a vibrant academic environment that promotes literary appreciation, language proficiency, and research innovation.
Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership
Plan and implement academic programs and course structures in accordance with university regulations.
Supervise syllabus design, teaching plans, and evaluation processes.
Ensure high standards in teaching-learning practices and academic outcomes.
Faculty Development & Management
Assign subject workload and monitor faculty performance.
Mentor and support faculty in research, publications, and career growth.
Organize seminars, workshops, FDPs, and guest lectures for academic enhancement.
Student Engagement
Encourage student participation in debates, literary clubs, seminars, and cultural events.
Monitor student performance and provide academic counseling.
Guide students in research, creative writing, and presentation skills.
Research & Publications
Promote departmental research initiatives and interdisciplinary studies.
Encourage publications in peer-reviewed journals and participation in conferences.
Facilitate funded research projects and academic collaborations.
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain departmental records, timetables, and reports.
Coordinate with examination, IQAC, and academic cells for institutional requirements.
Prepare departmental budgets and manage resources effectively.
Liaison & Representation
Represent the department in college committees and external academic bodies.
Foster partnerships with literary associations, universities, and cultural organizations.
Skills & Competencies
