Position Title
Refuse Collector I
Location Norfolk, Virginia
Department Public Works, Waste Management Division
Salary Range $41,503 - $45,653
Responsibilities
Operate an automated truck to collect waste from residential properties
Maintain truck by fueling, washing, sweeping and checking brake and light function
Conduct CDL pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections
Interact daily with citizens and customers, explaining refuse collection codes and procedures
Qualifications
Valid CDL driver’s license
Six (6) months refuse collection experience or commercial driving experience desired
Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, bend and perform repetitive motion
Must successfully pass all entry level testing and assessments
