Corrections Program Specialist – Mount Olive Correctional Facility
Location: Mt. Olive Correctional Facility, Fayette County, WV
Compensation: Minimum Special Hiring Rate $40,702.00 per year. Critical Vacancy Pay Facility adds $5,000 to base pay.
Job Overview Under general supervision, the specialist implements and facilitates inmate correctional programming. Responsibilities include administering the inmate college program, coordinating inmate-based programming for all levels, maintaining an up-to-date waitlist and entering all information into OIS, performing inmate assessments and evaluations, rewriting procedures that pertain to inmate programming, preparing monthly reports for the Associate Superintendent of Programs, traveling to other facilities as required, performing additional duties as assigned, and assisting in security posts as needed.
Responsibilities
Administer inmate college program and coordinate inmate-based programming for all inmate levels.
Maintain up-to-date waitlist and enter all information into OIS.
Perform inmate assessments and evaluations pertaining to inmate programming.
Rewrite any procedures that pertain to inmate programming.
Prepare monthly report for the Associate Superintendent of Programs.
Travel to other facilities as required.
Assist in security posts as needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Training: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or related behavioral or social science field.
Experience: Two (2) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid professional experience in a corrections, probation/parole, law enforcement, social work, recreation, religion or related behavioral or social science field.
Substitution: Graduate coursework in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or related or social science field may substitute for required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
