Assistant Professor - Biology (Physiology)
Department of Biology, Valdosta State University (VSU) invites applications for a ten‑month full‑time tenure‑track faculty position beginning January 1 or August 1, 2026 (negotiable). The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop an independent research program, mentor students, and serve the department, college, and university.

Responsibilities Teaching up to 12 credits per semester (Fall and Spring) at the undergraduate and graduate levels in physiology and related areas. Establish an independent research program and mentor students. Participate in service to the department, college, university, and disciplinary communities.
Typical Allocation of Duties
Teaching and scholarship – 80%
Service – 20%
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Biology or a closely related field
A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning
A record of research productivity appropriate to the applicant’s career stage
Preferred Qualifications
A record of mentoring students
Postdoctoral experience in Biology or a closely related field
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
