Department Overview The Cardiology Department is located on the Sacramento Campus and is responsible for providing comprehensive cardiology services to adult patients within the community.
Key Responsibilities
50% - Coordination of Medical Office Services
50% - Additional Job Functions
Job Scope Responsible for clerical and customer service duties as assigned by clinic leadership and as outlined within this job description.
Minimum Qualifications
High School / GED equivalent or related work experience
Experience with practices and protocols related to medical office and/or health care scheduling or insurance procedures
Ability to accomplish a variety of concurrent assignments efficiently
Problem solving skills to independently define a problem and execute solutions
Decision making skills to exercise delegated authority
Interpersonal skills to interact with patients and others with patience and professionalism
Computer system application skills (email, spreadsheets, word processing, medical office management)
Typing skills sufficient for timely and accurate input
Writing skills with proper English grammar, spelling, punctuation
Bookkeeping skills for patient financial transactions
Organizing skills to manage priorities in a high volume environment
Filing skills and knowledge of regulations governing medical records, including HIPAA
In depth knowledge of health care insurance systems (Medi-Cal, MediCare, HMO, PPO, etc.)
Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines
Knowledge and experience of medical office procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Three (3) years of customer service and/or call center experience
Recent experience with EMR such as EPIC
Recent experience in outpatient medical office
Experience in front office for a clinic, physician or health insurance company processing referrals or authorizations
Previous experience in the specialty of the hiring outpatient clinic
Experience within Cardiovascular Services MOSC 3 or equivalent
Comprehension of University requisition systems
Knowledge of Health System and UCD policies and procedures
