Geotechnical Engineer (Nashville)
Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for projects in Nashville, TN.
Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr (Salary based on experience; will be discussed with manager in interview)
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide geotechnical engineering guidance for due diligence, investigation, impact assessment, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector.
Assist with research, design, analysis, concept development, planning, and construction of roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, canals, levees, bridges, airports, water supply systems, underground storage, and sewage treatment.
Conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, including subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, and slope stability for commercial, industrial, building, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
Lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and write, prepare, and review related reports.
Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design and construction issues involving rock and soil mechanics, investigating subsurface and geological conditions to design foundations, earth structures, and pavement sub‑grades.
Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets and software.
Develop work plans and coordinate field/site work and laboratory testing.
Provide construction support services including submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and contract document clarifications.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT preferred.
5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations and reports.
Proficiency in Geotechnical software such as gINT, Slope/W, Seep/W, APILE, LPILE, GRLWeap, Settle3D (or other settlement software).
Ability to travel to project sites; physically able to freely access all points of a construction site in varying climates and environmental conditions.
Valid driver’s license and insurability.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.
Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
