Overview:
We have a vacancy for a Dental and Maxillo‑facial radiographer to deliver high‑quality teaching, assessment, and practical training in dental radiography techniques. This is an exciting time to join Bristol Dental School following a £36 million investment at our location in the centre of Bristol. With 119 dental chairs, 16 intra‑oral X‑ray units, 4 OPG and a CBCT scanner, the school delivers thousands of episodes of free dental care each year to the local community and makes a significant contribution to the local and national dental workforce.
We are seeking an outstanding individual to support the development of students’ dental radiography skills in the clinic environment. You will be involved in radiography teaching and assessment, using both simulators and with patients, and in further development of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The role includes the training of qualified staff members in the use of the radiographic equipment and enhancement of their radiography skills. You will help support the School’s quality assurance procedures for the radiography equipment, and assist staff in compliance with local rules and UK radiation legislation.
Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day support in clinic to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Teach modern dental radiography techniques including CBCT, maintaining best practice.
Ensure compliance with radiation safety and infection control policy.
Supervise clinical radiographic examinations to ensure a productive learning encounter between students and patients, whilst maintaining patient safety, dignity and comfort.
Ensure effective operation of radiography and image processing equipment, identifying and reporting faults through the appropriate channels.
Support training of operators as per the requirements of the Ionising Radiation Regulations.
Manage the radiographic workload to promote clinic efficiency.
Undertake quality assurance procedures on specialist radiographic equipment.
Engage in the University processes to ensure ongoing development and improvement of teaching and assessment.
Qualifications & Experience
Broad knowledge and experience in dental radiography.
Enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching.
Experience of working in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
Willingness to extend teaching and learning skills in both live patient and simulation settings.
Able to ensure the safe and effective delivery of clinical imaging.
Self‑motivating and able to plan work to support the organisation’s objectives.
Able to work both independently and in a team.
Hold a BSc (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent qualification and be registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
