Summary We’re seeking a Research Scientist with strong expertise in neuroscience laboratory work, both in vitro and in vivo. This role offers a unique opportunity to integrate advanced materials science, neurobiology, and bioengineering in a collaborative environment that bridges academia and industry. You will help shape the next generation of neural interfaces, from concept to preclinical validation.

Responsibilities

Design and conduct in vitro and in vivo neuroscience experiments in collaboration with the Neuroscience Lead and academic partners.

Work within a cross‑functional team (neuroscience, materials, hardware, software) to test novel BCI technology.

Perform and coordinate preclinical studies, including small‑animal experiments in internal labs and at CRO sites.

Manage and develop tissue culture facilities.

Perform biocompatibility experiments, as well as live fluorescence and electrophysiology research on live tissue.

Contribute to regulatory planning and documentation supporting upcoming clinical trials.

Operate, maintain, and expand our state‑of‑the‑art neurotech laboratories in Palo Alto.

Develop experimental protocols, maintain data integrity, and contribute to publications and IP filings.

Qualifications Must‑have experience

Strong background in neurobiology, electrophysiology, or biomedical sciences

Proven hands‑on experience with both in vitro and in vivo neuroscience models.

Skilled in histology, microscopy (e.g. confocal, super‑resolution, or electron microscopy), and related imaging techniques.

Experience with tissue culture, including primary neurons and immortalized lines.

Familiarity with neuro‑inflammation or neuro‑degeneration assays is advantageous.

Experience with in vivo neuroscience research, including stereotaxic surgery, handling, behavioral assays.

Comfortable in a dynamic, high‑risk/high‑reward startup environment.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with academic or CRO partners.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in neuroscience, molecular biology, bioengineering, or a related field; 0–2 years of post‑graduate academic or industry experience.
