Senior Accountant
who has a strong financial acumen and values accuracy and transparency. This role is pivotal in managing full-cycle accounting and ensuring compliance with all organizational policies, funding regulations, and non-profit accounting standards.
Main Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage core accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and monthly account reconciliations.
Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for both internal management and external stakeholders.
Grants and Funding Compliance: Maintain precise records for federal, state, and private grants; diligently track expenses against grant budgets; and prepare necessary billings for monthly reimbursements and grant reporting.
Monthly Close: Execute the procedures for both month-end and year-end financial closes.
Budget Support: Collaborate with organizational leadership to develop, monitor, and manage the annual operating budget and various project budgets.
Audit and Compliance: Coordinate directly with external auditors to support all annual audit activities and ensure strict compliance with GAAP and non-profit financial policies.
System and Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous enhancement of financial systems, internal controls, and reporting procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, along with 3–4+ years of relevant accounting experience.
Non-Profit Expertise: Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards; previous experience in a non-profit or grant‑funded environment is highly preferred.
Grant Management: Experience with federal grants, contract compliance, restricted funds, cost allocation, and grant expense tracking.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in accounting software (Sage or similar preferred) and strong Excel skills.
Team Fit: Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment while maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure.
