Banking & Finance Recruitment Specialist Reports To:
Executive Vice President
Position Overview This senior leadership role oversees a team of commercial lenders while managing a portfolio of complex commercial relationships. The SVP, Commercial Lending Team Leader, plays a key role in driving loan growth, ensuring credit quality, and delivering exceptional client service in alignment with the institution’s strategic and financial objectives.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field required; formal credit training preferred.
Minimum of
10 years of commercial lending experience , including proven portfolio management and team leadership.
Strong understanding of commercial credit policy, underwriting standards, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
Exceptional sales, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
Analytical mindset with a track record of sound credit judgment.
Ability to build, lead, and motivate a team of high‑performing lenders.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Core Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of commercial lenders, fostering professional growth and performance excellence.
Provide guidance on loan structuring, credit quality, and customer relationship strategies.
Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, and other personnel decisions in collaboration with executive management.
Credit Oversight
Oversee credit functions related to commercial real estate, construction, and commercial & industrial lending.
Contribute to the ongoing enhancement and implementation of credit policy and procedures.
Participate in loan approvals, portfolio reviews, and management of criticized or problem assets.
Ensure that all credit activities adhere to the bank’s risk management and compliance standards.
Business Development
Drive new business acquisition and relationship expansion to achieve
annual portfolio growth targets of $15–$20 million .
Identify and pursue opportunities to deepen relationships through proactive cross‑selling and client engagement.
Maintain a strong referral network of professionals such as accountants, attorneys, and real estate brokers.
Serve as the relationship manager for a portfolio of commercial clients, maintaining consistent communication and oversight.
Review client performance, analyze financial statements, and identify early warning signs of credit deterioration.
Support the workout and recovery process on troubled credits, working closely with internal and external resources.
Strategic and Organizational Involvement
Collaborate with senior management to shape strategic initiatives, business plans, and lending objectives.
Represent the Commercial Lending department in leadership meetings and cross‑departmental discussions.
Participate in community and professional organizations to enhance the bank’s visibility and brand presence.
Performance Expectations
Achieve growth and profitability goals while maintaining credit quality and customer satisfaction.
Demonstrate leadership that promotes a positive and collaborative team culture.
Ensure compliance with all internal policies and regulatory requirements.
