Job Overview Validation Specialist

(Onsite – Palo Alto) | Siemens Healthineers, a Varian Medical Systems company.

This role is integral to the Product Validation team, ensuring that Varian’s radiation oncology products are safe, effective, and meet design and intended use requirements.

The candidate must be located in the Palo Alto region or willing to relocate.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure that validation is complete and products meet user intended use with objective test evidence prior to release.

Evaluate and discuss clinical practices, treatment techniques, and clinical process optimizations with Product Management, UX, and Design Engineering to define new product requirements.

Provide continuous feedback and implement improvements to the design, development, and modification of radiation and oncology products and systems.

Support development and maintenance of Varian products, including Oncology Information Systems, Treatment Planning Management Systems, and Treatment Delivery and Imaging Systems.

Define strategy for assuring thorough design validation of new products to demonstrate compliance with design and intended use requirements.

Develop, modify, and execute design validation plans to meet product and system requirements.

Participate in requirements analysis, use case development, and risk hazard analysis.

Analyze and write test designs and procedures, establishing traceability to requirements and risk mitigations.

Consult with Product Verification Engineers, Product Marketing, UX, and Project Management to resolve usability, requirement, software, and scope problems.

Work as part of a global development team and travel globally (5‑25%) to support validation efforts.

Required Qualifications

Education and experience: either

Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist with at least five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S., or equivalent) with at least five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist and/or Clinical Applications Specialist using Varian’s products.

Thorough understanding of simulation, imaging, and treatment delivery clinical workflow scenarios in a radiation therapy center, including proficiency with:

treatment delivery using a variety of techniques such as IMRT and VMAT;

performing stereotactic radiosurgery for brain (SRS) and lung (SBRT) treatments.

Knowledge of radiation safety practices, including safe handling of ionizing radiation equipment.

Preferred Credentials

Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist with experience as a Medical Dosimetrist.

Proficient use of Varian products such as ARIA Radiation Therapy Management software, linear accelerators (C-Series, TrueBeam, Halcyon), motion‑management technologies (Varian RPM, RGSC, optical surface tracking) and basic knowledge of ARIA Oncology Information System and Eclipse Treatment Planning System.

Compensation & Benefits Base Pay Range: $139,180 – $208,780 (geography/market, skills, education, experience may affect starting pay).

Commission may apply per company plan.
