Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company, is hiring an on‑site Validation Specialist in Palo Alto, California. The role focuses on ensuring high‑quality clinical workflows and product safety for radiation oncology users.

This position is intended to represent the voice of clinical users and patients from the radiation therapist/medical dosimetrist perspective by identifying clinical workflow bottlenecks and critical features that could lead to mistreatments or hazards.

What You Will Do

Ensure validation is complete and Varian’s products are safe, effective, and meet user intended use, backed by objective test evidence.

Evaluate and discuss clinical practices, treatment techniques, and clinical process optimizations with Product Management, User Experience and Design Engineering teams to define new product requirements.

Provide continuous feedback and implement improvements to the design, development, and modification of radiation and oncology products and systems.

Support development and maintenance of Varian products, including Oncology Information Systems, Treatment Planning Management Systems, and Treatment Delivery and Imaging Systems.

Define strategy for assuring thorough design validation of new products to demonstrate that they meet design and intended use requirements.

Develop, modify, and execute design validation plans to meet product and system requirements.

Participate in requirements analysis, use‑case development, and risk/hazard analysis.

Analyze and write test designs and procedures, establishing traceability to requirements and risk mitigations.

Consult with Product Verification Engineers, Product Marketing, User Experience and Project Management to resolve usability, requirements, software, and scope problems.

Work as part of a global development team and travel globally (5‑25%) to support Valnan’s validation efforts.

What You Will Have

Education and experience:

Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist plus five (5) years of radiation oncology clinical experience, or

Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of radiation oncology clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist and/or Clinical Applications Specialist using Varian’s products.

Thorough understanding of simulation, imaging, and treatment delivery clinical workflow scenarios in a radiation therapy center, including proficiency with:

Treatment delivery using a variety of techniques including IMRT and VMAT.

Performing stereotactic radiosurgery for brain (SRS) and lung (SBRT) treatments.

Knowledge of radiation safety practices, including safe handling of ionizing radiation equipment.

What Will Set You Apart

Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist and clinical experience as a Medical Dosimetrist.

Proficient use of Varian products such as ARIA Radiation Therapy Management software, linear accelerators (C‑Series, TrueBeam, HALCYON).

Experience with motion management technologies such as Varian RPM, RGSC or optical surface tracking (IDENTIFY).

Basic knowledge of ARIA Oncology Information System for radiation oncology and Eclipse Treatment Planning System software.

Compensation Base pay range:

Min $139,180 – Max $208,780
