Company Overview Imperial Trading Company is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Representative to join our team in the Wholesale Trade Food industry. The role will focus on identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and achieving sales targets. The Business Development Rep will collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement strategies that increase revenue and market share.

Minimum Qualifications

Proven experience as a Business Development Representative or similar role

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the Wholesale Trade Food industry

Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques

Familiarity with related software

Ability to analyze and interpret sales data

Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets

Responsibilities

Identify and pursue new business opportunities through research, networking, and cold calling

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty

Achieve sales targets and contribute to the growth of the company

Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement effective strategies to increase revenue and market share

Provide regular reports on sales activities and progress towards targets

Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational and time‑management abilities, analytical skills for interpreting sales data, and familiarity with CRM software and sales/marketing techniques.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES Plan, coordinate and effectively execute all sales strategies for all assigned accounts consistent with assigned company sales initiatives. Responsible for attaining sales growth and profitability objectives as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to work and attend meetings as directed; completes above listed tasks in a competent manner

Maintain proficiency with current computer technology and all hardware and software

Resolve customer issues and opportunities, notifying supervisor, Sales Support Manager and relevant departments timely

Create and implement business development initiatives inside assigned accounts

Assist credit department with collections and accounts receivable matters

Collaborate with Retail Service Representative or Sales Admin personnel to resolve account issues

Present new products, programs and promotions to assigned accounts regularly; close retail distribution voids on priority products; ensure accurate sales forecasting

Provide written business plans on under‑performing sales and profit accounts; monitor compliance and recommend corrective actions

Respond efficiently to changes in customer payments that may impact accounts receivable

Notify supervisor and Vice President of Retail Services of pricing issues or competitive proposals

Create and maintain a plan for regular visits to customer headquarters, chain stores, and independent accounts; develop relationships with decision‑makers

Generate new business leads by identifying target accounts and establishing relationships; document opportunities and provide timely status updates

Perform written analysis of potential accounts to determine profitability; secure new business within company financial guidelines

Research, document and update competitive marketplace; communicate advantages and disadvantages to the firm

Collaborate across departments to resolve issues and opportunities related to new accounts; maintain comprehensive knowledge of organizational capabilities

Engage away from company premises as required

Attend meetings and business affairs on time as directed by supervisor

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands include light to moderate strenuous administrative tasks: regularly stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, use hands, reach, lift 25 to 50 pounds. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and exposure to outdoor conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Occasional outdoor weather and wet, humid conditions. Moderate noise level.
