The Position: Department of Oral Biology at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry is seeking a highly motivated full‑time Postdoctoral Research Associate who will conduct research activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Miya Kang. The postdoctoral research associate will do research work focusing on bone regeneration with an emphasis on the immunomodulatory role of macrophages. The work will involve experimental animal models and the isolation and culture of primary cells.

Duties & Responsibilities

Collaborate with Principal Investigator and other researchers to design research objectives

Testing, optimizing and implementing both new and existing methods/techniques

Developing comprehensive laboratory protocols while maintaining accurate records of the work performed

Generating data, compiling figures and drafting documents for grant applications and peer‑reviewed manuscripts

Able to supervise and train others in specialized tasks

Present research findings at national/scientific conferences

Other duties as assigned

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in immunology or other related health science fields. Applicants must be within the first 3 years of receiving their PhD/Doctorate degree to be eligible for this position.

Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods

Basic understanding of molecular biology

Proficient in lab research techniques (cell culture of primary cells, western blot, DNA and RNA purification, PCR, RT‑PCR, immunohistochemical analysis)

Preferred Qualifications

Have experience in handling rodents and isolating primary cells

Proficiency in bioinformatics analysis (R, Python etc.)

Experience with cloning and gene‑editing techniques
