Mass General Brigham, a not‑for‑profit health system, is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse (RN) for the Faustman Immunology Lab located at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Charlestown. The lab conducts a Phase II clinical trial focused on the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes with the study drug BCG to reverse the disease in adults and children (8 years and older). This part‑time position requires 32 hours per week (potential for full‑time) and is 100 % onsite. Early‑morning visits start at 07:00 AM, Monday‑Friday. Candidates must have strong clinical research experience, IV and blood‑draw skills for pediatric patients, and a commitment to high‑quality documentation in FDA‑oversight trials.

Job Summary The Clinical Research Nurse collaborates with physicians and the research team to implement and evaluate clinical research protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and patient safety.

Essential Functions

Coordinate study enrollment, protocol treatment, and completion of study requirements.

Work collaboratively as an effective member of the research care team.

Perform IV insertions daily for patients 8‑20 years old; maintain excellent blood‑drawing skills.

Continue learning and apply good practices in human clinical trials, including daily audit and documentation.

Educate patients and families on the protocol, adapting communication based on age‑specific needs.

Support research activities within the Faustman Immunology Lab.

Conduct and monitor Mixed Meal Tolerance Testing (MMTT) in the pediatric population and assist the MD in Glucagon Stimulation Testing for adult subjects.

Maintain accurate and complete record keeping for both research and nursing‐related data.

Participate in internal audits and collaborate with study coordinators on all active protocols.

Monitor the environment of care for patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Use StudyTrax to document observations and communicate findings to the protocol investigator.

Perform site injections assessment both in person and via Zoom as needed.

Qualifications

BSN preferred; Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.

Minimum two years of RN experience, including pediatric (8 years and older) IV and blood‑draw procedures; 3–5 years preferred.

Current MA RN license.

BLS certification.

Clinical research and diabetes experience preferred.

Expertise in IV insertion, pediatric patient care, and regulatory documentation.
