Summary Infotech is seeking a

Software Engineer

to join Meta’s

Privacy Competition Team , contributing to the

Cross Application Data Use

workstream. This role involves independently managing a queue of privacy-related tasks generated by automated detectors, analyzing potential data violations, and ensuring code integrity across large-scale systems.

You will investigate backend code, validate privacy compliance, and resolve or escalate issues where necessary. This is a highly technical role requiring strong backend engineering, debugging, and SQL expertise—particularly in

Hack , Meta’s derivative of PHP.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and resolve a continuous queue of privacy-related engineering tasks.

Investigate and diagnose potential data privacy violations using code tracing and debugging.

Read, write, and modify

Hack/PHP

backend code within Meta’s large-scale systems.

Design, edit, and optimize

SQL

queries for data validation and analysis.

Communicate findings, blockers, and resolutions clearly to project tech leads and partner teams.

Required Skills & Experience

4+ years of backend

PHP/Hack

programming experience (not limited to front-end work).

4+ years of

SQL

experience, including writing and optimizing complex queries (joins, subqueries, aggregations).

Strong ability to debug, trace call stacks, and follow data transformations through multiple layers.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and independent problem-solving skills.

Top Technical Strengths

Deep understanding of complex backend PHP/Hack systems.

Proficiency in advanced

SQL

query construction and optimization.

Expertise in debugging, static analysis, and privacy-focused code validation.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in

Computer Science

or related technical field.

Experience with large-scale, backend system debugging or privacy compliance work.

Familiarity with data privacy, security, or compliance engineering.

Certifications in

PHP

or

SQL

are a plus.
