Job Summary Mercury Systems is seeking the best and brightest talent to help us bring cutting-edge technology to mission‑critical aerospace and defense applications, advancing innovation where it matters most. The Senior Mechanical Assembler will perform a variety of tasks relating to production operations on electronics and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Targeted start date would be beginning to mid‑January.

Job Responsibilities

Install, assemble and inspect electronic components per documented work instructions.

Interpret job routers, written instructions, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings for assembly of electronics.

Demonstrate professionalism, leadership, and initiative on a daily basis.

Perform a variety of inspections to ensure assemblies meet or exceed IPC standards.

Perform pass‑downs with outgoing/incoming shifts.

Disassemble and re‑assemble, modify, and rework assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Must be able to travel to Chantilly, VA for up to 2 months for training.

Experience leading a team.

Minimum of 7 or more years of mechanical assembly experience.

Must have meticulous hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures.

Must be detail oriented and able to multitask.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet production and customer needs.

Experience with mechanical assembly.

IPC‑610/620 and JSTD 001 certification.

High School Diploma or GED.

Targeted start date: beginning to mid‑January 2026.

Preferred Qualifications

Electronics assembly and inspection experience.

Knowledgeable of 5S/6S.

New Process Introduction experience.

Experience with set up and training a team from scratch.

Soldering under microscope.

College degree.

Physical Demands

Constantly move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Specific abilities required by the job include positioning oneself to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 lbs.

Constant movement and use of limbs. Specific abilities required by this job include prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and frequently pinching and/or gripping. Sometimes, working under a microscope for long periods of time will be required.

Frequently observe, detect, discern, and convey information. Specific abilities required by this job include near, far, and color vision acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Requires good manual dexterity and coordination, and stamina. Specific abilities required by this job include the frequent requirement of overtime work.
