Job Description Under the supervision of the School Age Site Coordinator the Assistant Group Leader will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved in the program. The Assistant Group Leader will uphold the employee code of conduct and ensure that all job responsibilities reflect the mission and values of the Old Colony YMCA.

Program Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA policies (child and youth care policy, child guidance policy, health care policy).

Assist in implementing program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and YMCA policies.

Support daily activities, including Y Chat, Asset Curriculum, BOKS, and Fun/Food Curriculum.

Maintain proper child behavior in accordance with YMCA Child Guidance and Child Care policies.

Assist with Fun/Food Curriculum, menu planning, and ensure HEPA standards are met.

Maintain QRIS standards.

Act as a positive role model and in public relations capacity with parents, school personnel, and potential clients.

Maintain attendance records and required reports.

Attend weekly site staff meetings and monthly curriculum meetings.

Meet with School Age Site Coordinator as directed.

Establish and maintain working relationships with school or other site personnel.

Fiscal Responsibilities

Help ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.

Assist with the Annual Campaign and other fundraising events.

Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures, such as purchase orders and employee expense reports.

Facility and Housekeeping Responsibilities

Ensure a clean, organized, and safe program space.

Communicate facility issues to staff in a timely manner.

Interdivisional and Community Responsibilities

Participate on assigned committees and with the Y’s Annual Campaign.

Promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.

Attend at least 20 hours of childcare training annually.

Requirements

Minimum 16 years of age.

High school diploma or equivalent.

CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Valid physical examination within last 12 months.

Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.

Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work as part of a cohesive team.

Ability to lift/move heavy equipment, lift up to 75lbs occasionally and 40lbs frequently; ability to sit, stand, bend, and move intermittently during work hours.

Will sometimes work early morning, late nights, and weekends.

Strong oral communication skills; occasional public speaking required.

Understanding of Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
