Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer
Location: Oradell, NJ (Mt. Laurel, NJ also considered)
WSP is initiating a search for a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Power Generation Team. The role involves designing instrumentation and control systems for power generation projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and supporting client and contractor interactions.
Your Impact
Develop instrumentation and control design documents for power generation projects
Coordinate with colleagues in other engineering disciplines on multi‑discipline projects
Coordinate with clients, equipment vendors, and contractors on projects
Provide instrumentation and control engineering support, including developing criteria and specifications, reviewing vendor documents, monitoring construction progress, and responding to construction questions
Support field commissioning on project start‑up efforts
Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
7+ years of Power Generation Instrumentation and Controls experience
Effectiveness at coordinating and directing subcontractors and others to complete tasks safely and efficiently
Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies
Flexibility for varied schedules, ability to prioritize responsibilities, and quick adaptation to change in a pressured work environment
Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading a group of engineers
Experience with power plant control systems
Knowledge of network and SCADA design
Experience working in SmartPlant Instrumentation databases
Essential Professional Licensure
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Visio, Access, etc.
