Key Responsibilities
Perform calibration, verification, and preventative maintenance of precision measurement equipment and gauges.
Conduct dimensional inspections of manufactured parts, tooling, and fixtures using CMMs, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, and other metrology tools.
Document calibration records, inspection results, and non-conformance reports accurately and thoroughly.
Troubleshoot and resolve measurement discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, and provide technical support to production.
Develop, implement, and maintain metrology procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
Analyze measurement data to identify trends, process variations, and support quality improvement initiatives.
Support the selection, acquisition, and validation of new metrology equipment.
Recommended Qualifications
Proficiency in operating and programming CMMs, vision systems, and conventional metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Solid understanding of measurement principles, calibration processes, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
Experience with metrology software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and data analysis for quality control.
Technical degree or certification in metrology, quality assurance, or a related technical discipline.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency in CMM programming languages (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS).
Experience with advanced metrology equipment such as laser scanners, CT scanners, or structured light systems.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or similar continuous improvement methodology training.
Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) for process capability studies.
Ability to interpret and utilize CAD models (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for measurement planning and analysis.
